Blackdown Cottage is set in a private, 30-acre estate of lawns, ancient woodland, streams and lakes in the High Weald of Sussex bounded on three sides by yet more open countryside

Guests are free to wander through our bluebell woods or stand  on the banks of our lakes and admire the ever increasing numbers (and sizes) of Koi carp or just sit and look at the spectacular views over the surrounding countryside. Feel like something a little more energetic? Backdown is within a few minutes drive are some of the most beautiful gardens in England and more than half-dozen ancient castles and, of course,  stunning National Trust properties including Batemans, the home of Rudyard Kipling. You might also enjoy visiting Charleston the Summer home of the Bloomsbury set and Battle Abbey, the site of the Battle of Hastings in 1066
