Local Food
For great vegetables visit the Orchard Farm Shop on the A21 north of Hurst Green. (Travel through Burwash and just keep going. In about 5 miles you will reach the A21. Turn left. Shop is on the left.)
Really good cheese, olives, smoked meats etc are available at Wealden Smokery at Flimwell. (Follow directions for Ticehurst. Pass through village and turn left towards the A21. Flimwell is at the junction of the road you are on and the A21)“`

Petrol stations
Wadhurst – (go through the village for about ½ mile on the Tunbridge Wells road); Burwash on the main A265 just this side of the village. Closes around 10pm.
Hurst Green north of the village on the A21 (open 24hrs).
Heathfield on Station Road. Into the centre of the town and turn left. Garage is 500 yds on left.
Cross-in-Hand. Go through Heathfield, the garage is about a mile past on the right (24 hours)

Directions to local places
Heathfield – Turn right out of the drive and right again onto the main road. Heathfield is about 4 miles along this (A265) road.
Wadhurst – Turn left out of the drive and continue on this road, past Stonegate railway station to Stonegate. Here the road turns sharply to the left. Follow it to the ‘T’ junction and turn left. Wadhurst is about a mile further along.
Ticehurst – Follow directions as above, to the ‘T’ junction. Turn right. Ticehurst is about 2 miles along this road.
Burwash – Turn right out of the drive and then left onto the A265. Burwash is around 3 miles along this road.
Broad Oak – Directions as for Heathfield. Broad Oak is about a mile and a half along the main road.
Battle/Hastings – Go through Burwash and out the other side. Continue on this road for about 5 miles to the A21. Turn right and follow the A21. After about another 5 miles, the road to Battle branches off to the right and is signposted accordingly. The Hastings route is straight on, along the A21.
Uckfield – Travel through Heathfield and out the other side. After about a mile you come some playing fields on the left and a petrol filling station on the right. Take the turning to the left and follow this road for about 2 miles. A signpost will direct you to turn right and be signposted to Uckfield. The road meanders for several miles through various villages and eventually reaches Uckfield. Turn right at the traffic lights and this takes you into the town centre.
